Impaired Driving: Don't toke and drive
Impaired driving is the leading cause of criminal injury and death in Canada. While Cannabis has been legalized in Canada, driving under its influence is never permitted. This is because just like any drug or alcohol, Cannabis affects your reaction time, and judgement making it much more likely for a driver under the influence to crash or cause injury.
In response to legalization of Cannabis, BC introduced new impairment laws that are the strictest and most punishing in the entire country. We summarized the penalties in the graphic below:
